Yankees September Honor Row: Hostos Community College

The Yankees, as part of their “Honor Row” initiative  will welcome a group of students and staff members from Hostos Community College in the Judge’s Chambers for their 7:05 p.m. game vs. the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, September 14.

The group of students were among those that joined the CUNY Service Corps this summer to volunteer their time in the continuous rebuilding efforts of Puerto Rico in the wake of the destruction left behind by Hurricane Maria in 2017.

Over the course of two weeks, these students were a part of the “New York Stands with Puerto Rico Recovery and Rebuilding Effort” that enabled them to work with skilled trade professionals in helping to rebuild various communities and neighborhoods on the island.

This recognition is part of the Yankees’ annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month that was kicked off in late August. To learn more about related events and initiatives taking place through the end of the regular season, fans can visit the team’s official Spanish-language website, www.yankeesbeisbol.com, and click on the special Hispanic Heritage Month section.

The Yankees’ Honor Row was introduced this season. It is a monthly initiative that honors community-based organizations committed to making a positive difference by hosting them in the Judge’s Chambers seating section at Yankee Stadium. Each group of 18 takes in the game from the Judge’s Chambers and receives official Judge’s Chambers robes and foam gavels.
