St. John's Continues To Truly Be NYC's Team

When Chris Mullin took over as Head Coach of the St. John's Red Storm two years ago, he vowed to recruit more top prospects from New York City schools.
Mullin, a New York City product out of Xaverian High School who then went on to star at St. John's in their heyday in the 1980s, did it immediately by bringing in Shamorie Ponds and Bashir Ahmed, who had great freshman seasons last year.
St. John's continued that trend by recently announcing the signing of Sidney Wilson.

NYCFC Lose In Atlanta

Atlanta United, led by two goals from Miguel Almiron, beat New York City Football Club, 3-1, on Sunday night.
Atlanta's three goals came within seven minutes in the first half.
Their tactics of playing over the NYCFC press instead of through it started to pay off after the first ten minutes.

Red Bulls Run Past Revolution

The Red Bulls won their second straight on Saturday night, as they scored twice in the second half to outlast the New England Revolution, 2-1.
This game had a playoff atmosphere, as the Revolution had over 1,000 of their fans in the upper level, and their chanting was dueling with the Red Bulls super fan section in the opposite end.

For Kreis Sake: NYCFC Finally Beats Old Coach

New York City Football Club lost to their former coach, Jason Kreis, the first three times they faced him with his new club, Orlando City SC, including at Yankee Stadium on April 23rd.
NYCFC got their revenge on Sunday night with a dominant 3-0 win in Orlando, led by two goals from David Villa.
The win came on the fourth anniversary of the club's Founding Day.

The Red Bulls have finished with the best record in the MLS Eastern Conference the past two seasons, and Toronto FC has jumped out to a nice lead at the start of this young season.
On Friday night, the two elite teams battled to a 1-1 draw on Friday night at Red Bull Arena in a highly competitive match.

Marsch on Red Bulls In Loss To LA: "We didn't look like us. That's plain and simple"

The Red Bulls suffered a dispiriting 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday night at Red Bull Arena, one their head coach, Jesse Marsch termed "the worst performance since I've been here at Red Bull at home."
The Galaxy got on the board just eight minutes in when Romain Alessandrini took a free kick from the right side, and bounced it past Red Bulls goaltender Luis Robles. The key to the play was Jelle Van Damme appeared to tip it, which may have fooled Robles, but hew actually never made contact with it.

NYCFC Hold Off Upstart Atlanta United

New York City Football Club got a solid 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium against Atlanta United FC, who are in their inaugural season in the MLS.
David Villa, fresh off signing a one-year contract extension, put NYCFC on the board in the 17th minute after a give-and-go from Rodney Wallace.

The Red Bulls fell to the Philadelphia Union, 3-0 on Saturday night at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa., as C.J. Sapong recorded a hat trick in the final 15 minutes to give Philadelphia the big win.
The game was scoreless into the 75th minute, until Sapong capitalized on a loose ball in the Red Bulls' defensive third and beat Luis Robles to put the Union up 1-0. Sapong followed up with goals in the 81st and 85th minutes, completing the hat trick on a penalty.

NYCFC's Villa Signs Contract Extension

New York City Football Club announced that David Villa, the reigning MLS MVP, has signed a one-year contract extension.
NYCFC’s first signing, first captain and record goalscorer has agreed to a new deal which will keep him in New York until the end of the 2018 season.
