The Mets will host their annual Summer Food Drive pregame this Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2 ahead of their games with the San Francisco Giants.
Two collection points will be set up on the first and third base sides of the Jackie Robinson Rotunda outside of Citi Field between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday since that game has a 7:10 first pitch, and 1:00-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the game beginning at 4:10 p.m. There will not be collection points inside the ballpark.
Fans who donate at least 10 non-perishable items will receive a voucher they can redeem for two tickets to a select Mets regular season home game in 2025.
The food drive is presented by 1PointFive, a carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration company, and it will benefit Food Bank For NYC.
All types of canned and packaged foods can be donated, but not those in glass containers or perishable food. Expired items will also not be accepted. The food items that are most-needed are milk (powdered, evaporated, boxed), pasta, rice, canned vegetables (low sodium), canned fruit (packed in its own juice), oatmeal, hot and cold cereal (packaged, family-sized), boxed grits, canned tuna or chicken, and canned soup.
Food Bank for New York City works with over 800 soup kitchens, food pantries, and campus partners to provide immediate and reliable access to food and nutrition education.
