New York City Football Club's upcoming match at Citi Field, which was set for this Saturday, August 9, against the Columbus Crew, has been rescheduled due to necessary field maintenance.
Citi Field has hosted multiple events in addition to Mets games, and in conjunction with the heat, the field will be resodded.
Only baseball events will be played at Citi Field for a minimum of three weeks as the field recovers.
The game will now be at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, September 17, and in conjunction with that move, NYCFC will be moving back their game against Charlotte one night back to Saturday, September 20. Kickoff times for those matches will be announced soon.
All ticketholders for the originally scheduled August 9 match will receive a communication regarding their tickets and options available to them within 24 hours (expect it sometime Thursday). If you have any questions, contact your ticket representative or NYCFC Fan Services at 855-77-New York City FC or fanservices@nycfc.com.
The match on September 17 will serve as NYCFC's annual Noche Latina match, and the September 20 will be Kids' Day.
NYCFC CEO Brad Sims said in a statement, "We are grateful to our partners at the New York Yankees for their help and for making Yankee Stadium available for these matches. However, we understand and apologize for the inconvenience this causes our loyal fans and would like to thank them for their continued support and understanding as we navigate this period before Etihad Park opens in 2027."
