Anybody who has ever dreamed of playing professional basketball has the chance to further their dreams.
The Long Island Nets, the NBA Development League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, will hold a local player tryout on September 24.
The tryout will be held at the Pratt Recreation Center on LIU Post’s campus, which is located at 720 Northern Blvd. in Brookville, N.Y. Player check-in for the tryout will begin at 9 a.m.

This is leading up to the Long Island Nets’ inaugural season in the NBA D-League, and they will be playing their games at Barclays Center this season before the team moves to the renovated Nassau Coliseum.
Basketball operations personnel from the Long Island Nets and Brooklyn Nets will be in attendance to evaluate players as participants compete to earn an invitation to Long Island Nets training camp in November.
Players interested in participating in the tryout can download registration and waiver forms online at longislandnets.com. All tryout participants must be eligible to play in the NBA D-League.
Participation is limited to the first 125 applicants who submit the required registration and waiver forms to tryouts@longislandnets.com along with the required $125 registration fee that can be submitted online. Space permitting, limited walk-up participants will be accepted on the day of the tryout for a registration fee of $150. All registration fees are non-refundable.
Limited seating will be available to the public for a $5 admission fee on the day of the tryout. Doors will open for admission at 10 a.m., and all proceeds will benefit the Nets Foundation. Filming of any portion of the tryout is not permitted.
