College Football: FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll - Week 14

The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll for Week 14 of the 2023 College Football season features a massive change at the top as Michigan claims the No. 1 spot. Washington, Texas, and Alabama rounded out the top four, which were the teams that made up the College Football Playoff.

Last week's top four in the poll were Georgia, Michigan, Washington, and Florida State.

The game that rocked this poll was Alabama's 27-24 win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday evening. That helped Alabama leap from No. 8 to No. 4, while Georgia dropped five spots, from No. 1 to No. 6, which left them out of the four-team College Football Playoff.

This ends the long reign of Georgia at the top of the poll, as they were No. 1 for 23 consecutive weeks, and it also ends the stretch of SEC teams ranking No. 1 in the poll at 55 straight weeks, going back to September 29, 2019.

This is Michigan's first-ever No. 1 ranking in the history of the poll. Michigan, who had been No. 2 for most of the season in this poll took the top spot with their 26-0 shutout win over Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game. It is the first No. 1 ranking for a Big Ten team in the poll since Ohio State took it on Nov. 1, 2015.

Iowa, who was No. 16 last week, dropped out of the poll, while Notre Dame moved into it to take the 16th slot.

Washington moved up one spot to No. 2 after they won the Pac-12 Championship Game over Oregon, 34-31, on Friday night. This is the highest ranking ever for the Huskies in the poll.

Texas made as big a leap as Alabama, as they jumped four spots, from No. 7 to No. 3 with their 49-21 win over Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday afternoon.

Florida State dropped from No. 4 to No. 5, even though they beat Louisville, 16-6, in the ACC Championship Game on Saturday night.
