The St. John's Red Storm made another massive jump in the Top 25 rankings on Monday, as they came in at No. 12 in the Associated Press poll, and No. 10 in the USA Today Coaches' poll.
St. John's is now 19-3 on the season, including 10-1 in Big East play, in sole possession of first place in the conference.
In the AP poll, the Red Storm jumped three spots from last week, and the No, 15 slot is the highest it has been in the poll since 2000. It is the highest mark in the poll since it was No. 9 in the final one of the 1999-2000 season, when St. John's won the Big East Tournament Championship.
In the USA Today poll, St. John's made an even bigger jump, four spots to No. 10, the highest ranking in it since the final one of the 1998-99 season, when they made it to the Elite Eight.
The only other Big East schools to appear in the polls are Marquette (No. 11 in both AP and USA Today) and UConn (No. 19 in AP and No. 18 in USA Today). In the USA Today poll, St. John's, as they should be, are the highest-ranked Big East team.
This week, St. John's hosts Marquette on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Madison Square Garden, and they travel to UConn Friday night at 8:00 p.m.
