The New York Red Bulls notched a 1-0 shutout over CF Montreal on Saturday evening at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

Noah Elie got his first career MLS goal in the second half to lead the Red Bulls to victory, and goalkeeper Carlos Coronel earned his fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Red Bulls improved to 4-3-3 with 15 points, in eighth place in the MLS Eastern Conference, while CF Montreal is still winless on the season, 0-3-7, with three points, in last place.

The game started off with a spark, as Montreal had a big chance in the second minute on a shot from Prince Owusu at the right side of the net, which Red Bulls Coronel turned away.

Montreal then had a big chance in the eighth minute, when Victor Loturi fired a shot from the center of the box wide right, and then a chance in the 12th from George Campbell, whose header was turned away by Coronel.

The Red Bulls' first big chance came in the 15th minute when Emil Forsberg fired one from the center of the box that Campbell blocked, and that resulted in a corner kick, which was unsuccessful.

In the 33rd minute, the Red Bulls' Cameron Harper fired a shot from the right side of the box wide left, and their best shot in the rest of the first half came in the 43rd off another corner kick.

The Red Bulls had a lot of chances to open the second half, as Harper fired one from the left side of the box in the 48th minute that was blocked by Campbell, Peter Stroud had a shot from the center of the box blocked by Loturi in the 50th, which resulted in a corner kick.

That was taken by Felipe Carballo, and that led to Noah Eile being able to get a header off, which was saved by Montreal goalkeeper Sebastian Breza in the 50th.

That would foretell what happened 15 minutes later, when the Red Bulls had another corner, this one taken by Valencia.

The ball would find Eile again, but this time the left center back buried it into the left corner of the net for a goal to make it 1-0 Red Bulls.

The Red Bulls had big chances in the 73rd minute to double their lead when Wikelman Carmona fired one in from the left side, which Breza turned away, and resulted in a corner kick, which he took. That led to Kyle Duncan having a chance from the center of the box, which Breza saved.

Montreal had chances to tie it in the 79th minute when Owen Graham-Roache had a shot from the left side of the box that Coronel turned away, and then a few minutes later, Jules-Anthony Vilsaint shot one from the center of the box that missed.

Coronel made five saves in this one, which tied for his second-most saves in a single game this season. He has the third-highest total saves this season in MLS with 36.

Tim Parker entered for the Red Bulls in the 83rd minute to make his 100th appearance with the team. Defender Sean Nealis made his 143rd career MLS appearance, moving him into sole possession of eighth place in franchise history for most by a Red Bulls player. Kyle Duncan made his first start since August 31, 2024.
