On Thursday night, when the Mets take on the Miami Marlins, they will host their second annual A Celebration of Queens Culture.
Over 100 cultures are represented in what is known as The World's Borough, and that will shine through on this night of food, music, and art.
The activities will begin before the fans even enter the ballpark. Starting at 5:30 p.m. on the Citi Field Plaza, legendary DJ Ralph McDaniels will be spinning, and the CarNYval Dancers from Jamaica, Queens, will deliver a dynamic Caribbean performance.
There will be a pair of local food trucks on hand, including Dumpling Magic from Long Island City and Frank's Souvlaki from Astoria.
Fans can also get henna tattoos from local artist NYC Henna, graffiti art by Eliot Salome-Diaz, and chances to connect with local businesses and community organizations. Heineken samples will also be served in the K Korner.
A trio of trumpets from the Louis Armstrong House Musuem, which is located in Corona, will perform the National Anthem. Students from the museum will join them later on in the evening to perform "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."
Queens rapper and actor Action Bronson will throw out the first pitch.
Fans can support the Queens Public Library by participating in the Amazin' Mets Foundation 50/50 raffle. Tickets will be sold by volunteers from the library to support their 66 branches.
If you purchase a ticket through the special ticket offer link (click here), you'll receive A Celebration of Queens Culture hat, shown below.
