New York City Football Club announced that midfielder Aiden O'Neill had surgery on his left ankle, while defender Kai Trewin had right ankle surgery.
The Australians competed for their nation at the World Cup, as they advanced into the Round of 32. O'Neill was named Player of the Match for his performance in their 0-0 draw with Paraguay on June 25.
Both surgeries occurred on Monday, and O'Neill and Trewin will begin their rehabs immediately.
O'Neill had made 11 appearances for NYCFC this season, and he has notched three assists in MLS play.
Trewin has played in 18 matches across all competitions, and scored his first goal, along with two assists, for NYCFC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
