Oregon and Georgia were the only schools to receive first-place votes, with the Ducks taking 49 and the Bulldogs 5.

Georgia had a bye this week, while Penn State won at Wisconsin, 28-13; Ohio State beat Nebraska, 21-17; Miami beat Florida State, 36-14; Texas won at Vanderbilt, 27-24; Tennessee had a bye; and Clemson had a bye as well.

Texas A&M jumped five spots to No. 9 after they beat LSU, 38-23. The loss forced LSU to drop seven spots from No. 9 down to No. 16.

Notre Dame took No. 10, moving up one spot, after they beat Navy, 51-14 at the Meadowlands.

Last week's No. 16, Ole Miss, fell out of the poll even though they beat Oklahoma, 26-14. Pittsburgh is a newcomer in the poll, at No. 15 after they beat Syracuse, 41-13.
