The Red Bulls have announced their roster decisions following the conclusion of the 2017 season. The club has exercised contract options on eight players and declined the options of 10.
The Red Bulls have exercised options on Sacha Kljestan, Connor Lade, Aaron Long, Danny Royer, Sean Davis, Derrick Etienne, Jr., and Evan Louro.
They opted to complete the transfer of Michael Amir Murillo from San Francisco FC in Panama following the completion of his loan. (more on Murillo below)
The Red Bulls declined options on defenders Sal Zizzo, and Gideon Baah, along with midfielders Mike Grella, Dilly Duka, Dan Metzger, Arun Basuljevic, Vince Bezecourt, and Zeiko Lewis, and forwards Gonzalo Veron and Brandon Allen. Veteran defender Damien Perrinelle's contract expired at the end of 2017.
"We know how much we ask of our players, and these guys have all given a lot to the club during their time here. We thank them for their service, and wish them the best moving forward," said Sporting Director Denis Hamlett.
"While we declined options for Gonzalo and Vincent, we are in discussions to keep them as part of our club for next year," said Hamlett.
Twelve other players are already under contract for the 2018 season, bringing the current roster to 20.

MURILLO TRANSFER COMPLETED: The Red Bulls have exercised a contract option to transfer Michael Amir Murillo from Panamanian side San Francisco FC, the club announced today. Murillo joined New York on loan in February.
"We are pleased to add Amir on a permanent basis," said Sporting Director Denis Hamlett. "He showed well and has made progress as a player during his time here. He is building on the positive qualities we saw when we were scouting him, and we look forward to him contributing to our success moving forward."
Murillo, 21, made 17 appearances in MLS after joining New York on loan. He scored two goals while playing both outside back and center back, and finished in the top five on the team in interceptions (41) and clearances (56). Murillo was a regular for Panama's national team in 2017 as the nation earned a spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The defender is a native of Panama City. He graduated from San Francisco's youth academy to the senior team in 2014. He made 42 first team appearances and added three goals.
