The Red Bulls earned a 2-2 draw on the road against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, putting them into first place.

Daniel Royer led the way for the Red Bulls, as his two goals, in the early and late stages of the game, bookended a pair of goals from Vancouver's Kendall Waston.

The Red Bulls are now 15-3-6, with 48 points, in a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference and for the Supporters' Shield on points with Atlanta United, but Atlanta has one less victory, as their record is 14-6-4. Atlanta hosts the Columbus Crew on Sunday with a chance to take back first.

The Red Bulls are now 7-2-1 in their last 10 matches and they continued their success against Western Conference opponents this season, improving to 8-1-1.

It didn't take long for the Red Bulls to get on the board in this one.

In the fifth minute, Bradley Wright-Phillips gave the Red Bulls' their first scoring chance as he swung in a pass from the right side of the 18-yard box, in front of the face of Vancouver goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic for Royer, who buried it to make it 1-0.

It stayed that way until late in the first half when Vancouver responded. Yordy Reyna took a corner kick in the 42nd minute and connected with Kendall Waston for the equalizer just before the half.

In the second half, Waston earned his brace on another corner kick to give Vancouver a 2-1 lead in the 60th minute.

Off the reset in the 90th minute, Tyler Adams sent a long pass to the far post for Royer, who finished underneath the crossbar and completed his brace for the equalizer.

Royer has tallied at least a goal in four of the last six games to raise his season total to 10.

The Austrian winger completed his fourth career MLS brace and has recorded 10-plus goals in back-to-back seasons.

Adams tallied his second career two-assist match, previously recording two assists in a match against the Whitecaps on Oct. 7, 2017.

Brian White, the Red Bulls' first-round pick (16th overall) in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft out of Duke University, made his first career first team appearance as he entered the match in the 82nd minute.

The Red Bulls wrap up their three-match road trip at Yankee Stadium, as they take on New York City Football Club in the final installment of the Hudson River Derby of the regular season on Wednesday, August 22 at 7 p.m. NYCFC will be coming off a 2-0 loss on Saturday night in Philadelphia.
