Independent Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s campaign on Thursday announced news about their petition efforts in Indiana and Colorado.
INDIANA: On Tuesday, Indiana county election officials announced that they certified nearly 39,000 petition signatures for Kennedy, a total that exceeds the 36,943 required to gain ballot access.
This came eight days after the Kennedy campaign turned in more than 105,000 signatures to Indiana county election offices - nearly three times the number required - on July 1. Dozens of volunteers fanned out from Indianapolis, submitting tens of thousands of signatures to local election officials across the state.
Indiana Campaign Volunteer Dolores Lane said in a statement, “While canvassing for signatures, 99% of the people I encountered wanted to sign the petition to get Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on the ballot. Indianans are ready to end government corruption and embrace healthy people, healthy food, healthy soils — and the return of our Constitutional freedoms.”
COLORADO: Kennedy'a campaign announced on Thursday that it has submitted the required signatures to gain ballot access in Colorado. The campaign turned in more than 30,000 signatures on Thursday, more than double the 12,000 required.
Colorado State Director Isaac James said in a statement, “The volunteers in Colorado have gone above and beyond the call of duty to get Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on the ballot. They have driven hundreds of miles and dedicated countless hours to ensure he's on the ballot in each congressional district.”
This comes after the the Kennedy campaign announced a partnership with the Libertarian Party of Colorado (LPCO) last week, which we reported on (please click here for that story).
On Thursday, Kennedy 24 released this statement, "Along with appearing as an Independent on the ballot in Colorado, the Kennedy campaign has welcomed the opportunity to also appear as the nominee of the LPCO and is assessing the permissibility of listing both in recognition of this historic alliance."
LPCO Chair Hannah Goodman said, “We hope to place RFK Jr. on two ballot lines in Colorado, where in the tradition of fusion voting, Coloradans will see him running as an Independent and with support from the Libertarian Party of Colorado."
BALLOT ACCESS PROGRESS: The ticket, in which Kennedy is running with Nicole Shanahan as his Vice Presidential nominee, has now submitted signatures for ballot access in 15 states, with Indiana and Colorado joining previously announced Georgia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Alaska, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Illinois, and Nevada.
There are nine states that Kennedy is officially on the ballot: New Mexico, Utah, Michigan, California, Delaware, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Minnesota, and South Carolina.
There are also five states that the Kennedy campaign has rounded up enough signatures for ballot access - Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, and New Hampshire.
Overall, the Kennedy-Shanahan campaign has collected the signatures needed for ballot access in 29 states totaling 390 electoral votes - 72 percent of the 538 total electoral votes nationwide. It now needs just 148 more electoral votes to complete the campaign's aim of being on the ballots of all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
