Daniss Jenkins, one of St. John's biggest stars who made the All-Big East Second Team last season, signed a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.

Jenkins is the first Red Storm player to sign since Head Coach Rick Pitino took over before last season, and he is also the first since Julian Champagnie to sign a professional contract in the NBA.

In the 2023-24 campaign, in which St. John's won 20 games, Jenkins led the team with 14.9 points-per-game, 5.4 assists, which was third in the Big East; and 1.6 steals, seventh in the Big East, in 33 starts in his only season in Queens.

Jenkins scored double figures 28 times, including six times he eclipsed the 20-point mark. In Big East play, he averaged 16.1 points per game, and shot 47.1 percent from the field. He ranked fourth in the Big East with 5.1 assists per game in conference action.

In his one season with St. John's, Jenkins made some history, as he finished ninth on the program's single-season assist list with 179. He notched eight or more assists in eight games, including when he had nine in a win at Butler on February 28.
