In the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll for Week 3 of the 2024 college football season, Texas took the top spot for the first time in the poll's history.
Texas rolled to a 56-7 victory over UTSA when quarterback Arch Manning took over after Quinn Ewers left with an injury.
Texas took 26 first-place points to 24 for prior No. 1 Georgia, who survived a tight battle with unranked Kentucky, 13-12.
Despite the change at the top, an SEC team has been ranked No. 1 in the poll in 59 of the past 60 weeks, dating back to September 29, 2019.
Ohio State, who had a bye, came in at No. 3, followed by Alabama, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. Five of the top six teams came from the SEC, except for Ohio State, a member of the Big Ten. Alabama dominated Wisconsin, 42-10, while Ole Miss beat Wake Forest, 40-6, and Tennessee shutout Kent State, 71-0.
There was a big change at the bottom of the poll, as LSU, who won at South Carolina, 36-33, took No. 16 from defending National Champion Michigan, who beat Arkansas State, 28-18, at home.
