In the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll for Week 5 of the 2024 college football season, Alabama has taken the top spot for the first time this season after their wild 41-34 win over Georgia on Saturday night.
Alabama leaped three spots with this win, and this is the 62nd appearance for the Crimson Tide in the No. 1 spot, which is the most in the history of the poll.
An SEC team has now been ranked No. 1 in the poll in 59 of the past 60 weeks, dating back to September 29, 2019.
By virtue of the loss, Georgia dropped three spots to No. 5.
Texas, who was No. 1 the past two weeks, slipped one spot to No. 2, as they won 35-13 over Mississippi State.
Alabama got 28 first-place votes to 22 for Texas.
Ole Miss had the biggest drop in the poll, falling six spots to No. 12 after they lost to Kentucky, 20-17, at home.
