Red Bulls, With Robles Back, Tie Columbus

The Red Bulls used a second half goal to earn a road point in a 1-1 draw against Columbus Crew SC on Saturday night.

The Red Bulls are now 7-4-2 with 23 points, in fourth place, right behind third-place Columbus, who has 27 points and a record of 7-3-6.



The Red Bulls are 3-3-2 against Eastern Conference foes this year and earned its first road point against the Eastern Conference to improve their mark to 1-2-1 in 2018.

Columbus got on the board first, as Gyasi Zardes got his 10th goal of the season on a feed from Harrison Afful, who chipped his pass to the far post from the goal line, and Federico Higuai in the 26th minute.

On the Red Bulls' second set piece of the second half, Marc Rzatkowski sent in the free kick perfectly for Alex Muyl to flick in the equalizer, which was his second goal of the season, in the 57th minute.

This was Muyl's second goal of the season.

Red Bulls goaltender and Captain Luis Robles returned to action in net and tallied a game-high five saves.

Two players who played a big part in their US Open Cup fourth round win against NYCFC on Wednesday made their MLS debuts.

Hassan Ndam, 19, made his first career MLS start, while Ethan Kutler made his MLS debut in stoppage time.

The Red Bulls are back in action at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday night at 8 pm, as they host Seattle Sounders FC.
