Sunday night: Mets 2, Yankees 0
The Mets won this one on a two-run home run from Todd Frazier in the fifth inning off Yankees starter Luis Severino.
Seth Lugo got the win for the Mets, as he threw six shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks, while striking out eight, to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Severino suffered just his second loss of the season, and his record dropped to 9-2, as he allowed two runs on five hits and two walks, with seven K's, in five innings.
1998: 47-14
June 14, 1998: Yankees 4, Cleveland 2
Tino Martinez provided most of the Yankees' offense in this one, as he got an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the third inning and hit a two-run shot in the fifth.
David Cone allowed a run on four hits and two walks, with 12 strikeouts, in eight innings to get the win and improve to 9-1 on the season.
Jaret Wright took the loss for Cleveland, as he allowed three runs o six hits and four walks, with four K's, in six innings.
Wright would go on to pitch for the Yankees in 2005, when he went 5-5, and 2006, when he went 11-7.
Where They Stand: The 2018 Yankees (42-19) drop a game off the pace of the 1998 team, which was 47-14 through 61 games.
