Yankees Invite Diehl & Stephan To Spring Training

The Yankees have invited a pair of pitchers, left-hander Phillip Diehl (No. 82) and right-hander Trevor Stephan (No. 81) to Major League spring training.


Diehl, 24, went 2-3 with four saves and a 2.51 ERA (75.1IP, 55H, 24R/21ER, 23BB, 108K, 4HR) in 39 games with Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton. His combined 12.90 K/9.0IP ratio was second among all minor league pitchers (min. 75.0IP). Over three minor league seasons, the left-hander has gone 16-6 with seven saves and a 2.78 ERA (194.1IP, 60ER) in 82 games (six starts).

Stephan, 23, went 6-9 with a 3.69 ERA (124.1IP, 103H, 52R/51ER, 38BB, 140K, 10HR) in 24 starts with Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton. His 140K were third-most among all Yankees farmhands. In two minor league seasons, the right-hander has gone 7-10 with a 3.18 ERA (158.2IP, 56ER) in 35 games (34 starts).

The Yankees now have 23 non-roster invitees, including 12 pitchers (four left-handers, eight right-handers), four catchers, three infielders and four outfielders.
