On Friday night, the Brooklyn Cyclones swept the Connecticut Tigers in a doubleheader on the road, and they had a special guest lead the way.
Jeff McNeil, who was on a rehab assignment from the Mets, went 1-4 with a run scored in the first game, which the Cyclones won, 4-0.
McNeil started in right field and played four innings there before moving to third base for the final three. (each game in doubleheaders in the New York-Penn League are seven innings.)
Cyclones starting pitcher Michael Otanez tied a season-low with just one hit allowed in his 4 1/3 innings of work.
Otanez also walked three and struck out three, and has allowed three or fewer earned runs in each of his six starts for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones also shutout Connecticut in Game 2 by a score of 5-0, as outfielder Ranfy Adon led the way, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Adon is batting .388 (19-49) in his last 16 games and he has now collected at least three hits for the third time this season.
Jared Biddy threw three shutout innings, in which he notched four strikeouts, and he has allowed just one earned run in his last 22 1/3 innings, giving him a 0.40 ERA in that span.
The Cyclones improved to 37-28, in second place in the New York-Penn League's McNamara Division.
