BookCon 2018 At The Javits Center June 2-3

BookCon is taking place at the Javits Center on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3.

This is a worthwhile event to see a lot of famous authors and notable figures who are debuting new books.

Marching Along With Congressman John Lewis: Sunday, June 2, 12:00 - 12:45 pm, location: Downtown Stage

Tea With Leigh Bardugo: Grishaverse superfans rejoice! Fierce Reads is inviting twelve fans to attend an intimate conversation with #1 New York Times bestselling author Leigh Bardugo. Each fan will receive a signed King of Scars sampler, Grishaverse mug, plus other series swag.

This event will take place on the BookCon Show Floor from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM on Saturday, June 2 (exact location will be included on the ticket provided to winners on May 25). Both a BookCon ticket for Saturday, June 2 and Tea with Leigh Bardugo ticket are required to attend. Tea and light refreshments to be served.

BookCon Autographing Area: This year, all signings that take place in the BookCon Autographing Area will be digitally ticketed before the Show. Tickets will be distributed to Fans on a first come, first serve basis – so the earlier you visit this page, the more likely you are to receive Tickets for the signings you want to attend.

In order to complete this process, you are required to submit your BookCon Badge number or BookCon order confirmation number. If you purchased multiple tickets in your order, you can use the same confirmation number to reserve Autographing tickets for multiple people. This step is required for participation, and go here to buy BookCon Tickets now in order to participate in signings taking place in the BookCon Autographing Area. A valid Ticket to BookCon for the day of the signing is required for participation.

After you have selected the signings you want and finished the checkout process, you'll receive a Ticket to your email with a unique barcode that can be scanned at the signing line once onsite. 

There is no cost for Tickets to the individual signing sessions but some signings may require a book purchase onsite for participation. Click the "i" next to each author's name for additional details on each signing.

Tickets are non-transferable and non-sellable and IDs will be checked upon entry to the signing line. Please arrive on time and no more than 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of each signing. Late arrivals may not be accommodated.

There is a limit of two (2) signings per person per day. However, if a particular author’s signing isn’t sold out by the start of BookCon, then fans can get a signing ticket for that author on-site at the show, even if that fan already registered for two signings for that day.

BookCon Book Club: As a book focused show, BookCon want to read books with their fans and talk about new works from Authors coming to BookCon this year.

Diane Guerrero Meet-and-Greet -  June 2, 1:30-2:30 pm, location: 1E03

Come meet Diane Guerrero and take a selfie with her! This meet-and-greet is first-come first-served. Diane Guerrero, star of The Orange Is The New Black and Superior Donuts on CBS, will be at BookCon 2018 previewing her upcoming middle grade nonfiction book, My Family Divided, about her experience as the child of undocumented immigrants.

Though Guerrero is a recognizable celebrity, she's also a passionate advocate for immigration reform. Join Guerrero live on the Downtown Stage at BookCon as she not only chats about her recently released adult memoir about her experience as the child of undocumented immigrants, but also as she previews her upcoming middle grade nonfiction work on the same subject, My Family Divided, that comes out this summer.

Love Them More: Taye Diggs and Shane Evans: June 2, 12:30-1:15 pm, location: 1E10

Taye Diggs, the well-loved actor known for his roles in Empire, Rent, and How Stella Got Her Groove Back has collaborated with his childhood best friend, Shane Evans, on two successful picture books, Chocolate Me! and Mixed Me! And now this super duo has a third, I Love You More, on the docket for fall 2018, which describes the love a parent feels for a child- even when they can't be physically with them. Join Taye and Shane as they discuss their popular books and how they balance their friendship with their professional collaborations.

Defying Borders: Erika Sanchez, Diane Guerrero, Thi Bui, Tommy Orange, and Sara Farizan - June 2, 11:45 am - 12:30 pm, location: 1E16
Whether a child is a first- or second-generation American, or simply from a group of traditionally disenfranchised citizens, there are countless cultural and ethnic challenges to overcome to truly feel ‘American.’ This timely and topical panel brings together authors Sara Farizan, Erika Sánchez, Diane Guerrero, Tommy Orange, and Thi Bui who have all either experienced such difficulties first-hand or witnessed family members who’ve had.
