Red Bull Arena has been selected by Concacaf as a host venue for matches in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, Red Bull Arena and Concacaf announced on Friday.

Red Bull Arena is one of 13 venues selected across 15 metropolitan cities, and the only venue in the New York/New Jersey area.

"It's an honor for Red Bull Arena to be selected as a host venue for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup", Marc de Grandpre, General Manager, New York Red Bulls said on Friday. "We are privileged to welcome world-class talent to the finest soccer stage in all of North America."

Other venues include Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, Chicago's Soldier Field, two venues in Los Angeles, the Rose Bowl and the new Banc of California Stadium; two venues in Houston, NRG Stadium and BBVA Compass Stadium; and Arizona's University of Phoenix Stadium.

The announcement of the U.S. venues marks the first step in kicking off the region-wide soccer event, to be played in the summer of 2019, which has expanded to include a record 16 Concacaf Member Associations. The initial series of individual market announcements were made in a week-long sequence of local events across the U.S., featuring local dignitaries and representatives of the local host committees.

Red Bull Arena opened in 2010 and it remains the benchmark for soccer-specific venues in North America. The 25,000 seat stadium in Harrison, New Jersey is easily accessible via roadways and public transportation. Red Bull Arena has a number of unique elements that make it the premiere North American soccer venue. Key to the design is the way the arena is structured to create atmosphere, as fans in the front row will be just 21 feet from the touchlines.

Red Bull Arena also featured matches in the 2011, 2013 and 2017 Gold Cups. In 2017, RBA hosted the opening night of matches featuring Honduras, Costa Rica, Canada and French Guiana. 2019 matchups will be announced at a later date.

Red Bull Arena has also hosted numerous top club and international teams and events, such as a World Cup Qualifier between the United States and Costa Rica, the International Champions Cup, and the 2010 MLS All-Star Game against Manchester United.

"The Gold Cup is anticipated every two years by fans across the region, as a true celebration of the vibrant culture and world class football that make up our wonderful and diverse One Concacaf region," said Concacaf President Victor Montagliani. "The venues selected thus far offer a mix of soccer history as well as a taste of the future of the sport in the U.S., and we are excited to work with the local host committees to bring the game to fans all over the U.S. With the upcoming selection of additional venues in the Caribbean and Central America, the Gold Cup becomes a regional event on even more levels, as Concacaf continues to focus on making football accessible to more teams, players and fans."

Taking place every two years, the Concacaf Gold Cup is the region's national team championship. Featuring some of the hemisphere's top players, the tournament crowns the champion from North and Central America and the Caribbean. Drawing large crowds and millions of television viewers across the region, the Gold Cup is a celebration of soccer, sportsmanship, and culture.

The six national teams that participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Hexagonal qualifier round -- Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States - are automatically qualified to the 2019 Gold Cup. The 10 additional participating nations in the 2019 Gold Cup will qualify through Concacaf Nations League Qualifiers, to be played on FIFA match dates in September, October, and November of 2018, and March of 2019.

Fans can now visit www.GoldCup.org to sign up for an exclusive pre-sale offer for any Gold Cup gameday in 2019, before tickets go on sale to the general public.
