Yankees Rule 5 Draft Results

In the first round of the Major League phase of the 2018 Rule 5 Draft on Thursday, Arizona selected right-handed pitcher Nick Green from the Yankees.


In the first round of the Triple-A phase, Kansas City selected C Chris Rabago, Philadelphia selected RHP Gilmael Troya, and Boston selected RHP Anyelo Gomez from the Yankees. In the second round, Oakland selected OF Mark Payton. In the third round, the Chicago Cubs selected RHP Alexander Vargas.

The Yankees made one selection in today’s Rule 5 Draft, taking RHP Adonis De la Cruz from Seattle’s Double-A roster in the first round of the Triple-A phase. De la Cruz, 23, has made 84 career appearances (four starts), going 12-6 with nine saves and a 3.29 ERA (186.0IP, 68ER) and 178K. A native of Santo Domingo Norte, D.R., he went 3-4 with a 4.71 ERA (57.1IP, 30ER) and 75K in 34 relief appearances with Single-A Clinton in 2018. He was originally signed by the Mariners as a non-drafted free agent on February 15, 2013. He began his career as an outfielder before moving to the mound prior to the 2015 season.
