The second week of the college football season saw Georgia overtake Alabama for the top spot in the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll. Ohio State and Michigan held on to the third and fourth spots, as they had in the opening week of the season.
Georgia defeated Sanford 33-0 at home, while Alabama gutted out a 20-19 win on the road at Texas. The other two in the top four rolled to big wins, with Ohio State running out Arkansas State, 45-12, and Michigan destroying Hawaii, 56-10.
Clemson, who beat Furman 35=12, took the fifth spot in the poll, making it 83 appearances since 2014, which is fifth all-time.
USC, after their 41-28 win at Stanford, is ranked seventh, the highest they have been since they were in the No. 5 spot on September 24, 2017.
Notre Dame suffered a brutal loss at home to Marshall, 26-21, and that dropped them completely out of the FWAA-NFF Super 16 for the first time since October 1, 2017. Texas A&M, who lost 17-14 to Appalachian State; Baylor, who lost to BYU in overtime, 26-20; and Florida, who lost to Kentucky, 26-16, also fell out of the poll after suffering defeats.
NC State returned to the poll at No. 16, while Kentucky (No. 10), who beat Florida, 26-16; BYU (12) who beat Baylor, 26-20 in OT; and Tennessee (14), who won in Pittsburgh, 34-27 in OT, joined the poll for the first time this season.
