The Red Bulls will face the Philadelphia Union in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. ET at Talen Energy Stadium.
The Red Bulls and Philadelphia will meet in the Round of 16 for the second-straight year.
On Wednesday night,the Red Bulls notched a decisive 4-0 victory over rival NYCFC at Red Bull Arena in the fourth round to earn a spot in the Round of 16.
The Red Bulls found goals from Vincent Bezecourt, Aaron Long and two from Daniel Royer with Ryan Meara pitching his fifth career Open Cup shutout. Philadelphia advanced with a 5-0 rout of the Richmond Kickers at Talen Energy Stadium. The Union had five different goal scorers in the first minutes and saw goalkeeper John McCarthy posted a shutout with one save.
This is the fourth straight year that the Red Bulls and Union will clash in the Open Cup. Two of the previous three meetings have gone to penalty kicks after finishing in a 1-1 draw through 90 minutes of regulation and 30 minutes of overtime.
The Union's lone 2-1 regulation win came in 2016 at Talen Energy Stadium. The Red Bulls, however, bested the Union last season, advancing 5-3 on penalty kicks.
In the meantime, the Red Bulls will have two MLS matches leading up to its Round of 16 match.
The Red Bulls will travel to face Columbus Crew SC on June 9 then return home to host Seattle Sounders FC on June 13.
