Books: "Blame It On Bianca Del Rio"

Blame It On Bianca Del Rio: The Expert on Nothing with an Opinion on Everything
By Bianca Del Rio
Dey St., an imprint of William Morrow, $21.99

Bianca Del Rio is the cheeky, larger-than-life drag queen and outrageous comic who blasted her name in the annals of pop culture on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Thanks to her snarky frankness, impeccable comedic timing, and politically incorrect humor, she became the show’s breakout star, winning its sixth season.

Fierce, funny, and fabulous, Bianca  Del Rio, otherwise known as Roy Haylock, is in a class by herself, and has been dubbed "The Joan Rivers of the Drag World" by The New York Times.

In her new book, Blame It On Bianca Del Rio, the drag queen extraordinaire brings her trademark acerbic wit and sharp commentary to the page in an illustrated collection of advice in which she answers letters like in an old-school advice column.

This is an example of one of the many exchanges Bianca has in this creative and hilarious work:

"Bianca, I have very recently started dating a cute, nice guy. Only issue is that he can't stop spilling his guts. It seems too soon in the relationship for that. Suggestions? Alan, Ft. Myers, Florida

"Dear Alan, When you say 'spilling his guts,' do you mean he can't shut up about his innermost thoughts, or that he's had a discount colostomy? If it's the latter, buy slipcovers, rubber sheets, and a case of Purell. If it's the former, do what I do when dealing with someone who's had too much therapy and can't stop sharing: buy ear plugs. I have fabulous ear plugs that are invisible to the eye, but block out almost all sound. I haven't heard a word my assistant Jamie has said since 2004! BDR"

Bianca shares her opinions loudly and proudly, offering raucous, hilarious, no-holds-barred commentary on the everyday annoyances, big and small, that color her world, and make it a living, albeit amusing, hell for anyone who inhabits it.

Bianca offers "advice" on topics including romance, health, friendship, sex, family, style, work, and more, while offering nuggets of wisdom hidden amongst the biting wit.

Blame It On Bianca Del Rio is filled with vibrant photos from Bianca's twisted universe which will shock you and keep you laughing, but beware, it is not for the faint of heart.

This is one of the most unique, funny, and enjoyable books you will read all year.
