Through 89 Games:

After dropping the first game to Baltimore, the Yankees a run in the first, followed by a two-run homer from Brett Gardner in the third inning.
Austin Romine hit a two-run homer, followed by an RBI double from Gardner, who scored on an error in the eighth, which made it 8-0 Yankees.
Luis Cessa made the spot start for the Yankees, and he threw six shutout innings, scattering three hits and three walks, while striking out four, to earn his first win of the season.

1998: 67-22
July 16, 1998: Tigers 3, Yankees 1

Chuck Knoblauch led off the game with a home run for the Yankees, and that was all they would get against Detroit's Brian Moehler.
Detroit tied it on a Raul Casanova homer in the fifth, and they took the lead in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run single from Luis Gonzalez.
Moehler allowed just that one run on seven hits and no walks, while striking out five to earn the win, and improve to 10-6.
David Cone took a rare loss for the Yankees, as he fell to 13-3. Cone went eight innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks, with seven strikeouts.

Where they stand: The 2018 Yankees (59-30) are eight games off the pace of the 1998 team, which was 67-22 through 89 games.
