The Yankees took control of the game in the third inning when Giancarlo Stanton had an RBI single, followed by a grand slam from Greg Bird that made it 5-0.
That was all Yankee starter Sonny Gray needed, as he avenged two bad outings by throwing six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and a walk, with eight strikeouts. He is now 6-7 on the season.

The Yankees jumped out to a 3-1 lead early, and started to pull away with two in the seventh, with one coming on a Bernie Williams solo home run that led off the frame.
The big blast came in the eighth when Tim Raines launched a grand slam that made it 9-1.
Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez got the win to improve to 4-2, as he went seven innings, allowing one run (a Carlos Delgado home run in the second inning) on six hits and three walks, with seven K's.
Where they stand: The 2018 Yankees (60-31) remain eight games off the pace of the 1998 Yankees, who were 68-23 through 91 games.
