The Mets will host 2019 Honorary Bat Girl is Jennifer Murphy from Floral Park, NY, on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, at Citi Field.

The Mets have invited Jennifer to put in first base before the game and line up with the Mets coaching staff for the National Anthem. Jennifer will also meet with Mets Manager Mickey Callaway, tour the clubhouse and interact with Mets players before stepping onto the field.

Jennifer was 30 years old and pregnant when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and recently finished treatments in March 2019. Last year while going through treatment, Jennifer participated in a runway fashion show at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory to help raise money for breast cancer research. Earlier this year, Jennifer visited the New York State Senate in Albany to speak in favor of Shannon’s Law, which would lower the insurance age for mammograms to 35.

The Honorary Bat Girl program is a league-wide initiative to raise awareness and support for Major League Baseball's annual "Going to Bat against Breast Cancer". This initiative raises awareness about the breast cancer cause, while also raising funds to support breast cancer research. For more information, please visit HonoraryBatGirl.com.
